THE ULTIMATE REFERENCE RESOURCE

There is a vast online repository of human knowledge. Have you heard of it? It is called Wikipedia, meaning the encyclopedia wiki. A “wiki” is a website whose visitors openly collaborate on its content. When someone wants to contribute to a topic, they simply log in and start typing. This methodology makes Wikipedia more extensive and up-to-date than any other encyclopedia. You can find information concerning just about any topic you can imagine. Perhaps the most useful and reliable aspect of Wikipedia is its citation. If you want to learn more than what is given in an article, there are usually links to other articles and websites that have additional information.

Be warned; you should not trust 100% of what you read on Wikipedia. Perhaps 95%. This website's greatest strength is also its weakness. Because nearly anyone can contribute to page content, unscrupulous individuals sometimes add false statements and use highly-biased language. Fortunately, there are people constantly keeping track of page changes, and they promptly remove such vandalism as soon as it is detected. Citation is also very helpful. If you doubt the validity of a statement within an article, you can usually check its citation and go to the original source of information for that statement. In general, Wikipedia is a reliable and astoundingly vast source of knowledge.
